Version 0.8

8 October 2026 · Current

  • Krodium Safe Browsing: our own phishing and malware protection, checked on your device against a signed list we build from openly licensed threat feeds. No address you visit is sent to anyone.
  • Kraken is on from the first launch, with a short introduction the first time you open Krodium.
  • Vire apps in the toolbar: Mail, Vire, Calendar, Drive, Write and the rest open in one click, signed in with your Viremail account, and reuse their tab if already open.
  • Profiles: choosing, editing, creating and deleting a profile no longer closes the browser, and every profile without a photo gets its own illustrated avatar.
  • A tidier toolbar: the home button and address bar sit on the left, icons are larger, and every toolbar icon is clear in light and dark.
  • Bagpipper, the desktop suite for Viremail and Krodium, on the home screen.
  • Krodium for Windows and Linux, 64-bit.

Version 0.7

  • Recently visited: the home screen now shows the sites you visited last, under your apps.
  • A light and dark switch in the toolbar: Light or Dark in one click, following your Mac until you choose.
  • A new icon family across the browser, designed for Krodium.
  • Kro replaces the last borrowed illustrations, including in Privacy and security.

Version 0.6

7 October 2026

  • A redesigned window: softer tabs, a calmer toolbar and a clear green focus ring on the address bar, with no colour gradients from elsewhere.
  • Settings, Extensions and Library have colour tiles for every section, in the style of macOS.
  • Light mode is a neutral green-white throughout.
  • History, Library and Extensions show only Krodium: no outside sync, recommendations or store prompts.
  • Help menu items now lead only to Krodium help.

Version 0.5

  • Kraken, the built-in anti-tracker, replaces Krodium Shield: one switch in the toolbar for ads, trackers, fingerprinting, encrypted DNS and IP leak protection, off until you turn it on.
  • A home button before the address bar.
  • History opens in its own tab.
  • A cleaner toolbar without the extensions button.
  • Themes and the extensions page are Krodium's own, with no outside theme gallery.
  • The padlock is the only icon in the address bar, so there is one shield, Kraken.

Version 0.4

7 October 2026

  • Every site now gets its full, current version: Google, YouTube Music, Spotify and others no longer treat Krodium as an outdated browser.
  • Krodium Shield (now Kraken): a one-click ad and tracker blocker in the toolbar, off until you turn it on.
  • A new, compact media player just after the address bar, with a title that scrolls, and volume on hover or with the scroll wheel.
  • The Krodium theme follows your Mac: light or dark, and websites follow your system setting too.
  • A redesigned home page with the Krodium logo, a greeting and a refined search box.
  • Music and video services that need protected playback work without a prompt.
  • No promotions, onboarding or account prompts from other companies anywhere, and more of Kro throughout.

  • A media player in the toolbar: the title, artist and picture of whatever is playing in any tab, with play, pause, previous and next, and a click to jump to the tab.
  • Kro now appears on error pages, such as when a site cannot be reached.

  • A new home screen of apps on every new tab, with popular sites for your country, a search box with your choice of search engine, and tiles you can add, remove and rearrange.
  • The Krodium theme: green and black throughout the browser and its settings.
  • A green padlock for secure sites.
  • Kro, our alien, replaces the illustrations the browser started with.
  • Help, release notes and privacy links open krodium.com.
  • HTTPS-only mode and Global Privacy Control are on by default, and sponsored content is off.

  • The Krodium green accent replaces the purple accent across the interface.
  • The vendor name is now Krodium.
  • Intended for Macs with Apple silicon, macOS 10.15 or later. Not yet notarised by Apple.
