Kraken and privacy

What Kraken does

Krodium's built-in anti-tracker, explained.

Kraken is the anti-tracker built into Krodium. It is a button in the toolbar, right after the address bar. It is part of the browser, not an add-on, and it does not send your browsing to anyone. It is off until you turn it on, and it stays as you left it.

When Kraken is on

  • Ads, trackers and annoyances are blocked on every site before they load. Kraken uses filter lists that it keeps up to date from the public servers that publish them.
  • Tracking protection switches to Strict, and fingerprinting protection is turned on.
  • Your DNS lookups are encrypted. See Encrypted DNS (krodium.com/help/encrypted-dns).
  • WebRTC is stopped from revealing your device's local or real IP addresses to sites.
  • Tracking parameters are stripped from links.
  • Global Privacy Control is sent to sites, asking them not to sell or share your data.

What Kraken does not do

Kraken does not hide your public IP address. Websites you visit can still see it. A private relay that does, Kraken Relay, is planned and is coming. It is not available yet.

To turn Kraken on or off, see Turn Kraken on and off (krodium.com/help/turn-kraken-on-and-off).
